Asia Snow Leopard

 
Animal Facts: Weigh between 60-120 pounds Thick smokey gray fur patterned with opened rosettes. This helps them blend in with the rocky terrain that they live in. Mating occurs in late winter. Usually 2-3 cubs are born and they will stay around their parents until they are about 18-22 months old. Active around dawn and dusk.

Why the Asia Snow Leopard is endangered

Snow leopards are hunted illegally for their pelts which are wanted for coats and other garments.


     Snow leopard bones and other body parts are wanted for medicinal purposes in Asia.


    Snow leopards are also captured to be added to a private animal collection.

There are only 3,500-7,000 left in the wild.
